Charles Lott Jr. grew up in Memphis. He didn’t leave to make his name — he stayed, invested, and built it here. That’s not just a nice origin story. It’s the reason he builds the way he builds.
Before he ever broke ground on a house, Charles spent years as a banking executive, sitting across from some of the most complex distressed residential transactions in the region. He learned how banks value properties, how investors think, how deals get structured and how they fall apart. Over his banking career, he personally negotiated more than $25 million in distressed residential assets — a master class in real estate from the balance sheet side.
That knowledge didn’t stay in the office. Charles took it into the field, becoming a licensed REALTOR® and eventually selling more than 100 homes across Memphis. He wasn’t just moving properties — he was studying the market, understanding what families needed, and learning what it took to build a home worth living in.
When WMMC Construction was born, it carried all of that forward. Charles wasn’t starting a construction company to build houses. He was building a vehicle for wealth — for his clients, for Memphis, for the next generation.
His track record speaks to that vision. WMMC was selected as the chosen builder for the Uptown Memphis redevelopment, and Charles has served as lead developer on the 100 Blocks project — a $100 million initiative reshaping the city’s urban fabric.
